Innovative Business Centers and Retail Stores to Close at 2:30 p.m. Today, October 13th
St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix, USVI –October 13, 2014– The Innovative Business Centers and Retail Stores on St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix will be closing early today, October 13, 2014, in preparation for Tropical Storm Gonzalo. In order to allow employees to prepare for the approaching storm, Innovative will be closing at 2:30 p.m. Innovative Business Offices provide customer care for Innovative Telephone, Innovative Cable TV, Innovative Long Distance and Innovative PowerNet-Internet.
In the event of the storm, customers are reminded to refrain from moving or cutting downed lines on their property or in the vicinity of their homes because they may be active power lines, telephone lines or cable TV lines.
For customers who are on the new EVO network, during a commercial power outage, the eMTA battery back-up for telephone will last up to 6 hours of talk time. Innovative encourages customers to use telephone service during these times on an as-needed basis. Customers who have generators or a
back-up power source will be able to maintain service. It is important for customers to understand that if they do not have an additional battery or a back-up power supply, the use of the telephone should be reserved for emergency purposes only to retain the maximum amount of talk time on the battery.
Innovative encourages residential customers who do not have generators and multi-line business customers to discuss their communication needs with an Innovative Customer Service Representativeto determine if an extra battery is needed to ensure that communication continues in the event of a
long-term power outage. Additional batteries are available for sale at the Innovative Business Offices during normal business hours. Innovative Business Offices are located at Tutu Park on St. Thomas; Estate Diamond on St. Croix and Starfish Marketplace on St. John. Business Office hours are Monday to
Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Innovative also encourages customers to sign up for the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency’s VIALERT to closely track the path of Tropical Storm Gonzalo and actions that are being taken by the local government. Customers can simply log on to www.vialert.gov to register to
receive emergency alerts on their computer or wireless mobile device.
For cable TV or phone repairs, Innovative customers calling from landlines should dial 912. The hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Customers utilizing wireless phones can reach the Service Center
